eat it: Daisho (winterlicious pick)

When it comes to Winterlicious and summerlicious, I am especially picky at which restaurant I want to try. The number of restaurants that participate has grown over the years and I wonder why some restaurants are participating because they're quite affordable to begin with! I love the original idea of Winterlicious, where upscale restaurants that I don't usually go to will have prix fixe menus in an attempt to lure me back a second time to try their regular menu. These past winter and summerlicious though, I leave thinking if they can't get winterlicious right, I don't want to go back a second time to try their regular menu.

Daisho though has become a regular summer and winterlicious staple (see my past summerlicious post here) for my team because it's close to the office and their food is consistently good. This year, to start I had the Kimchi Apple Salad with jowl bacon. The apple was marinated in kimchi sauce, what a brilliant idea! The main course was Fish Ssam, the spicy ginger scallon sauce it came with was a great touch and who doesn't love putting their own food together? Lastly, the dessert was the chocolate frozen mousse and brownie with toasted rice and it was perfection.
