do it: Pursuit OCR

Two summers ago, I was coerced into joining the Spartan Race. I hated the running part of it but I loved climbing the nets, pulling up weights, swinging on hoops and jumping over hurdles. I haven't thought to enter again because I seriously don't ever want to be shoulder deep in mud again. But then I heard about Pursuit OCR , an indoor obstacle gym and it was music to my ears!

Last weekend, Nick and I went to go check it out and also decided to take a class as well. For $30 we got a full day pass to the gym and attended the Bar Fit class. In the class, we did various exercises to build up the strength needed to flag! I've always wanted to learn how to flag! This is not a class for the faint hearted, I was exhausted by the end and my body still hurt four days later.

After resting and eating lunch, we did the obstacle course, there were hurdles to climb over, tunnels to shimmy through, jumping through tires, balancing on a swinging bridge, climbing ascending monkey bars and the best part, swinging hoops over a ball pit. I felt like a kid again!

There are also two ramps, one at 11 feet tall and the other at 14 feet tall. The object is to run up it and pull yourself up at the top. The 11 feet ramp was easy but I'll have to be back to conquer the 14 feet one. Afterwards we just hung out on the open mats practising our head stands and hand stands.

It was a really fun afternoon and something different and intense to mix into our workout routine. We are definitely going back for more classes. Our advice? Bring a sandwich to keep up your strength, a water bottle because there are no water fountains and a lock for the lockers (if you're able to get one).
