The best part of a gift guide is coming up with an idea to spin it in a new way. This issue, our editors tell you what gifts they're getting for their loved ones. I had such a ball illustrating each editor and my creative director, I had to pick the right shade of lipstick, the perfect shirt and the right hair do.
Packaging stories is what I love best about my job. It's taking a story, like how to dress for the holidays for instance and spinning it so there's intent behind each piece of clothing that makes it on the page. It gives the page more entry points and it's more engaging for the readers when there is a story behind it instead of putting together a collage of pretty clothes.
And lastly, who thought I would design a tabloid magazine, we did just that in our body feature talking about celebrities and their healthy secrets. This turned out well because the art was just as strong as the copy and it was a real team effort to make this story fun.
