weekend getaway: Prince Edward County

I was my friend's date for a wedding in Prince Edward County and we decided to make a weekend out of it. We got a b&b, got brunch at Drake Devonshire, went antiquing and had dinner at The Hubb.

The Drake Devonshire is a MUST if you're visiting the area. The hotel was decked out with interesting mid century furniture, art installations and a photo booth! We had brunch where I started it off with a delish boozy lavender lemonade. I had the Cinnamon French Toast and Dom had the Devonshire Eggs Benny which were both great choices. Afterwards, we each got a tea and sat outside on lawn chairs looking out onto the lake.

After brunch, we drove from Wellington towards Bloomfield for some antiquing. Check out Dead People's Stuff, Maccool's Re-Use and Hickory Tree

In Bloomfield, on Main Street, there is a strip of little boutiques and amongst them is Slickers, an ice cream shop that uses natural ingredients. I had the rhubarb and ginger ice cream and enjoyed it outside on their patio chairs under the sun.

Close to Slickers is a super cute store, Kokito which sells homewares, accessories and art designed or handcrafted from Canada.

We went to The Hubb for dinner where we had yummy cocktails, sweet fried breads, tuna tartare, roasted chicken (with the most amazing parmesan dumplings) and dark chocolate lava cake on the patio. The peacefulness of the area along with the yummy food made for the perfect evening.

We checked into the Gardenville B&B, a lovely home which the hostess filled with lots of flowers. Our room was a great size and the washroom wasn't cramped (which I loved)! In the morning, we were greeted with a basket of bread with jams and peanut butter, Polish pancakes (which I'm still dreaming about) and lemon poppyseed cake. Why can't every morning start off like this?
