Eat it: Campechano Taqueria

Bistec Taco

Bistec Taco

Campechano Taqueria is located at the corner of Adelaide and Portland, once seated, you feel like you've discovered a gem in the neighbourhood. The menu consists of tacos, quesadillas, nachos, guacamole and ceviche.

We each ordered the bistec (sirloin), camarones (shrimp) and barbacoa de borrego (lamb). They were so good, I only remembered to take a photo of the bistec taco because I got too excited to eat. The bistec one was also our favourite, so much so Nicholas ordered two more. I opted for the dessert the day instead. The waiter described the dessert as a cross between a flan and a cheesecake, how can you go wrong with either of those?

What really made the dining experience memorable was when Nicholas' first taco had arrived, he decided to go to the washroom first, he came back and continued talking to me without touching the taco yet. The waiter came over and asked if he could remove the taco and bring a fresh one for us since it was meant to be eaten right away. That's the level of service and attentiveness that will separate a good restaurant and a great one.
